Platinum Rate Today in Vidisha, Pt950 and Pt900 Live Prices – 7 Nov 2026, 4 AM IST

The figures in the live table are reference rates for Pt 950 and Pt 900 platinum in Vidisha, refreshed every business day against international bullion benchmarks and the prevailing rupee exchange rate. Every figure is the metal value alone, before making charges and GST.

Vidisha, the district headquarters at the fork of the Betwa and Bes rivers and a historic trading town near Sanchi, carries a farming, trade and heritage identity rather than any precious-metal manufacturing tradition of its own. With Bhopal about an hour away, platinum is a modest but growing category here alongside the region's far more established gold and silver trade. This page covers today's rate, PGI certification and Pt950 purity, making charges and GST with a worked example, where to buy and sell in Vidisha, the platinum buying calendar, taxation and a detailed FAQ.

The weight table converts today's per gram rate into the denominations Vidisha buyers transact in, from a single gram through 10 grams and 100 grams, for both Pt 950 and Pt 900 purity.

Since platinum is sold here almost entirely as finished jewellery rather than bullion, most buyers work with piece weights in the 3 to 12 gram range for rings and bands, rather than round weight denominations bought for their own sake.

A single day's rate tells you very little on its own. The last ten trading sessions show whether today's print sits at the top of a run, the bottom of a pullback, or somewhere in the middle of a flat stretch.

Platinum's international price is set by a smaller, more concentrated global market than gold or silver, so short term moves can be sharper and less predictable than the gold rate Vidisha buyers are more used to tracking.

The trend table sets today's rate against its opening and closing values over seven days, 30 days and 12 months. Platinum's price is shaped heavily by global automotive demand for catalytic converters and mine supply out of South Africa and Russia, alongside jewellery demand.

Platinum has traded below 24 karat gold on a per gram basis for much of the last decade, a genuine reversal from most of the twentieth century when platinum commanded a premium over gold. Vidisha jewellers use this table mainly to set showroom pricing rather than to inform any investment call.

Platinum trades internationally in US dollars per troy ounce on a global market considerably smaller than gold or silver. This rate converts at the prevailing USD to INR exchange rate and picks up customs duty and GST before reaching Indian retail.

Vidisha's platinum rate tracks national and regional pricing closely, with metal reaching local jewellers through established supply chains via Bhopal and Mumbai, which effectively set the retail benchmark each morning. Local differences show up mainly in making charges rather than in the metal rate itself.

Global automotive demand, mine supply out of South Africa and Russia, and investment flows move the international platinum price. The rupee's exchange rate and Indian import duty changes move the local price on top of that.

Locally, platinum buying in Vidisha follows engagements and weddings rather than the festival calendar that drives gold, with the strongest window from November to February and a smaller lift around Valentine's Day.

Vidisha stands in the fork of the Betwa and Bes rivers in central Madhya Pradesh, roughly 60 to 65 kilometres north east of Bhopal and about 10 kilometres from the great stupa at Sanchi. Ancient Besnagar, just outside the modern town, was an important trading centre on the route between the Gangetic plain and the Deccan, and its Heliodorus pillar, raised around the second century BCE and known locally as Khamba Baba, is among the best known inscribed monuments in India. The rock cut Udayagiri caves, from the early fifth century, lie a few kilometres west. The district was formed as Bhilsa in 1904 and the town was renamed Vidisha in 1956.

Platinum itself remains a modest category here, sold alongside the region's far older gold and silver trade, entirely separate from this archaeological and trading heritage.

Pt 950 platinum, 95 percent pure, is by far the standard purity for platinum jewellery sold in Vidisha and across India, including the large majority of engagement rings and wedding bands from established brands.

Pt 900, 90 percent pure, appears occasionally, mainly in men's heavier pieces, but is far less common in Vidisha's showrooms. Always confirm which purity a quoted rate refers to before comparing prices between jewellers.

India's mandatory BIS hallmarking regime currently covers gold, mandatory since June 2021, and silver, mandatory since September 2025. Platinum has not been brought under this scheme and remains a considerably smaller retail category nationally.

In place of a BIS hallmark, platinum jewellery carries a Pt 950 or Pt 900 purity stamp backed by a Certificate of Authenticity from the Platinum Guild International, the global body that has promoted platinum jewellery in India for over two decades. Vidisha jewellers affiliated with PGI display this certification prominently, and it remains the closest equivalent to a hallmark available for this metal.

• Look for the Pt 950 or Pt 900 purity stamp engraved inside the band or on the piece
• Ask for a PGI Certificate of Authenticity carrying a verifiable serial number
• Buy from an established, PGI affiliated local jeweller in Vidisha or Bhopal, or a recognised national brand showroom, rather than an unregistered seller

Given the absence of mandatory third party BIS verification for platinum, this certificate and stamp combination is the primary purity assurance available to Vidisha buyers.

The rate shown on this page is the metal value alone. What you pay at the counter adds a making charge, then GST, which applies as two separate components under Indian tax rules: 3 percent GST on the metal value, plus 5 percent GST on the making charge when it is itemised separately on the invoice, which is how most established Vidisha jewellers bill.

What making charges typically run in Vidisha

• Simple platinum bands | roughly 15 to 25 percent, reflecting platinum's density and the skill required to work it
• Diamond set engagement rings | roughly 20 to 35 percent, plus the diamond value billed separately

A worked example on a 5 gram Pt 950 band at 20 percent making: the metal value gets 3 percent GST, the making charge gets 5 percent GST added on top of itself, and the two are then summed for the final bill, so the total runs meaningfully above a flat 3 percent calculation on the combined figure.

Vidisha's established jewellers, serving a district headquarters and a farming hinterland, carry gold and silver in real depth. Platinum is available at a smaller number of showrooms, and because Bhopal is only about 60 to 65 kilometres away, many buyers compare designs there or order online.

What to check wherever you buy

• The Pt 950 or Pt 900 purity stamp on the piece
• A PGI Certificate of Authenticity with a verifiable serial number
• A proper GST invoice itemising weight, purity, rate and making charge separately

Resale infrastructure for platinum in Vidisha is thinner than for gold or silver, given how few dedicated platinum buyers exist locally, a genuine gap compared with the city's much deeper gold and silver exchange trade.

Terms vary meaningfully by jeweller, so confirm the exact buyback or exchange policy before purchase, ideally in writing, and keep the PGI certificate and invoice for any resale.

Engagement rings remain platinum's strongest use case wherever it is sold in India, and this holds in Vidisha, where young couples, many working or studying in Bhopal, lean toward diamond set designs even in a city where gold jewellery anchors every wedding.

Buyers here planning a platinum engagement ring will typically find a fuller range by ordering online from an established national brand than by relying on local showroom stock alone.

Taxes on platinum are set nationally, so nothing here is specific to Vidisha.

At purchase, GST applies in two parts, 3 percent on the metal value and 5 percent on making charges when itemised separately. At sale, profit on platinum held over 12 months generally qualifies as a long term capital gain at 12.5 percent without indexation; shorter holdings are taxed at your income slab rate. Large cash purchases require PAN above the prescribed threshold.

None of this is tax advice. For a significant transaction, confirm current rules with a chartered accountant.

Vidisha genuinely draws its economy from wheat, soybean and pulse farming across the Betwa plain, from sandstone quarrying and stone carving, from grain and general trade, from heritage tourism around Sanchi and Udayagiri, and from households with members working in Bhopal.

This farm and trading income gives the town a steady jewellery market built on gold and silver, with platinum a growing, modest addition driven by younger households.

Visitors go to the Heliodorus pillar, the Udayagiri rock cut caves, the Great Stupa and monuments at Sanchi about 10 kilometres away, the Vidisha museum, the Halali dam picnic spot and the temple ruins at Gyaraspur and Udaypur further afield. October to March is the comfortable season.

These sights add further colour to Vidisha's identity, entirely separate from the town's small and growing platinum retail presence.

There is no prescribed CBDT safe harbour limit for platinum jewellery the way there is for gold. As with any valuable asset, holdings should be supportable through invoices and disclosed income if ever questioned.

Cash payments above the prescribed threshold require your PAN card, and payments above two lakh rupees in cash for a single transaction are not permitted regardless of PAN.

Platinum is significantly denser than gold and silver, meaning a platinum piece of identical size contains more metal by weight. It is more resistant to everyday wear than gold and does not tarnish like silver, while remaining naturally white.

These physical properties, rather than investment characteristics, are the primary reasons Vidisha buyers who specifically seek out platinum choose it over the town's dominant gold and silver categories.

• Pt 950: platinum that is 95 percent pure, the standard for most Indian platinum jewellery
• Pt 900: platinum that is 90 percent pure, less common
• PGI: the Platinum Guild International, the body that certifies platinum jewellery purity in India
• Making charges: the fee a jeweller adds for crafting a piece, separate from the metal value
• HUID: the unique six digit hallmark identification number used to trace a certified gold item

If you are in Vidisha and considering a platinum engagement ring or lab grown diamond jewellery purchase, Lucira offers PGI certified platinum and certified lab grown diamond pieces with transparent, itemised pricing and doorstep delivery, adding design range beyond what any single local showroom stocks.

Every Lucira piece is priced against the live daily rate shown on this page, with making charges and certification costs shown separately, so Vidisha buyers always know exactly what they are paying for.

Platinum, as across India, is bought almost entirely for jewellery value rather than as a savings instrument. There is no local culture of buying platinum coins or bars in Vidisha the way there is for gold, and no dedicated platinum ETF product for Indian retail investors.

The practical framing for a Vidisha buyer is to treat platinum as a jewellery and lifestyle decision, not as a store of value comparable to the gold sold by local jewellers.

• No PGI certificate offered with the piece, which should prompt caution given the absence of mandatory BIS hallmarking for platinum
• White gold or silver sold or represented as platinum
• Making charges quoted verbally but not itemised on the final GST invoice

Buying from an established, PGI affiliated retailer or a recognised national brand showroom is the most reliable way to avoid these issues, particularly in a market like Vidisha where platinum is still a small share of jewellery sales.

Platinum is denser than gold, naturally white without rhodium plating, and hypoallergenic, a trend that has reached Vidisha through younger buyers and national brand showrooms in nearby Bhopal.

Gold and silver remain the overwhelming default for Vidisha's wedding traditions and festive gifting, while platinum has carved out a growing niche around modern engagement rings.

Platinum's buying pattern in Vidisha, as across India, is milestone driven, centred on engagements and weddings rather than the festival calendar, such as Akshaya Tritiya and Dhanteras, that dominates gold buying across Madhya Pradesh.

• Wedding and engagement season, broadly November through February, the strongest platinum buying window
• Valentine's Day, a genuine minor peak for platinum rings among younger couples
• Anniversaries and milestone gifting, spread through the year rather than concentrated

If you are comparing metals, check the gold and silver rates for Vidisha as well, both of which carry far deeper local trading history than platinum.

Platinum mine supply is far more geographically concentrated than gold or silver, with South Africa and Russia together accounting for the large majority of global production, making the price genuinely more sensitive to mining disruptions than gold typically is.

For Vidisha's jewellery buyers, none of this changes the practical advice, since platinum here is a jewellery decision, not a timing dependent investment.

White gold is yellow gold alloyed with white metals and plated with rhodium, which wears off over time and needs periodic replating, an upkeep cost buyers should factor into any long term comparison. Platinum is naturally white throughout, needing no plating at all.

Platinum is also denser than gold, so a platinum ring of the same visual size genuinely contains more metal by weight, part of why total price can exceed a comparable gold design even before making charges are added.

Platinum's strength and density make it a genuinely secure setting metal for diamonds, since prongs hold their shape and grip better over decades of wear compared with softer metals like gold.

This is the primary reason platinum, where available in Vidisha, skews heavily toward diamond set engagement rings rather than plain bands.

National platinum jewellery demand has grown steadily in India, driven mainly by engagement ring marketing from national brands rather than any organic local tradition.

This shift has reached Vidisha through younger couples with Bhopal ties and online shopping, while gold and silver remain dominant for the district's wedding and festival buying.

In store buying at a Vidisha showroom lets you see and try on a piece before committing, though platinum selection is narrower than gold. Online buying from a certified national brand offers a wider range of designs and price points.

A common approach is to try sizes and styles in store, then compare designs and prices online before deciding.

India's BIS hallmarking regime covers gold since June 2021 and silver since September 2025, but platinum has not been brought under this scheme, leaving the PGI certificate as the primary protection for buyers.

Vidisha buyers used to the clarity of gold hallmarking and HUID should therefore insist on the PGI certificate and a clearly stamped purity for any platinum purchase.

Platinum jewellery manufacturing in India is concentrated in specialist hubs with the machinery platinum's density and hardness require. Vidisha's craft strength lies in stone carving, and its jewellers work mainly in gold and silver, so most platinum pieces on sale are made elsewhere and shipped in as finished products.

Some jewellers can take custom platinum orders through their suppliers, though timelines are longer than for gold.

Store platinum separately from other jewellery to avoid scratching softer metals, and keep your PGI certificate and invoice together with the piece for any future resale or insurance claim.

A bank locker remains the most secure option for significant holdings, a sensible precaution for any valuable jewellery.

Profit held over 12 months generally qualifies as long term capital gains at 12.5 percent without indexation, calculated as sale price minus original purchase cost including making charges.

Given how rarely platinum is resold purely for investment purposes in Vidisha, this scenario is far less common in practice than for gold, where exchange and resale are routine parts of local jewellery culture.

Platinum entering the Indian jewellery trade arrives mostly as semi-finished components supplied to manufacturers in hubs like Mumbai and Delhi, worked into finished rings and bands, a share of which reach Vidisha's showrooms through national distribution via Bhopal.

Globally, platinum's largest industrial use is in catalytic converters, a demand source entirely separate from jewellery and one reason its price can move independently of gold.

Platinum jewellery arrived in the Indian bridal and gifting market considerably later than gold and silver, gaining traction mainly through national brand marketing from the early 2000s onward, centred on engagement rings and couple bands.

Vidisha's platinum retail presence reflects this later, smaller scale national adoption, set against a trading tradition that goes back more than two thousand years to ancient Besnagar.

Platinum occupies a modest position within Vidisha's jewellery economy, dwarfed by gold and silver's central role in weddings and everyday wear, with growth driven by younger buyers and engagement ring marketing.

This is likely to grow gradually rather than transform the market, since the cultural forces driving gold demand here do not extend to platinum the way they do for yellow gold.

Unlike gold, jewellers here do not typically run dedicated monthly instalment savings schemes for platinum, given how small and specific the category's demand genuinely is.

Buyers planning a platinum purchase generally save independently and pay the full amount at purchase, in contrast to gold savings schemes that remain popular with established jewellers across Madhya Pradesh.

Platinum bands and chains marketed toward men have been a consistent part of national platinum brand strategy, and this category makes up a real share of the limited platinum stock available in Vidisha.

For men here seeking a platinum piece outside a wedding band, a showroom visit or a national online brand remain the two realistic routes, since Vidisha's broader men's jewellery culture still runs predominantly through gold.

Clean platinum jewellery with warm water, mild soap and a soft brush. Minor scratches displace the metal rather than removing it, unlike gold, and a soft patina develops with wear that can be professionally repolished.

Given the limited number of jewellers locally who work with platinum, repolishing is best arranged with the retailer who sold the piece or during a visit to Bhopal.

A proper invoice should show the net platinum weight in grams, the purity as Pt 950 or Pt 900, the rate applied per gram that day, the making charge as its own line, and GST split correctly at 3 percent on the metal and 5 percent on making charges.

For diamond set rings, the invoice should separately state the diamond value and certification. Keep the PGI Certificate of Authenticity together with your invoice for any future resale or insurance claim.

• A Vidisha jeweller or multi metal showroom: lets you try before buying, platinum selection varies by store
• A national brand showroom in Bhopal: a meaningfully wider selection
• An established national online brand: the widest overall design range, delivered to your door

Buyers with a specific platinum design often combine routes, trying a style in store and then comparing the wider range online.
