Gold Rate Today in Vijayapura – 7 Nov 2026, 8 AM IST

Today's gold rate in Vijayapura for 24 karat, 22 karat, 18 karat and 14 karat gold is shown in the live table above, updated every business day against MCX and IBJA benchmarks. Every figure is a bullion reference rate for the metal alone and excludes making charges, wastage and GST.

Vijayapura, once capital of the Adil Shahi dynasty and home to the Gol Gumbaz, sources its gold through established wholesale chains via Hubballi rather than a dedicated bullion market of its own. This page covers how the rate is set, purity and hallmark verification, a worked bill example, where to buy and sell, the buying calendar, taxation and a detailed FAQ.

The weight table converts today's per gram rate into the denominations Vijayapura buyers commonly transact in, from a single gram through 100 grams and a full kilogram, across 24K, 22K, 18K and 14K purity.

Most jewellery purchases here fall in the 5 to 25 gram range for everyday pieces, with wedding sets running considerably heavier, a pattern typical of Karnataka's broader gold buying culture.

The last ten trading sessions show whether today's rate sits at the top of a run, the bottom of a pullback, or somewhere in between, rather than judging a single day's print in isolation.

Gold's international price is set by a deep, liquid global market, so day to day moves in Vijayapura's rate reflect genuine shifts in global sentiment rather than local supply and demand.

The trend tables set today's rate against its weekly, monthly and annual opening and closing values. Gold's price is shaped by central bank buying, real interest rates, and the US dollar's strength, alongside jewellery demand.

Gold has delivered strong returns over the past decade, though past performance is never a guarantee of future direction, a caveat worth remembering in a city whose identity is more closely tied to its Adil Shahi monuments than to gold trading.

Looking at year end gold prices over a longer stretch shows the metal's real long run trajectory better than any single year's swings, useful context before a large purchase in Vijayapura.

Gold has generally trended upward over multi-decade periods, though with meaningful multi-year stretches of flat or falling prices along the way.

Gold trades internationally in US dollars per troy ounce, with London setting the global benchmark. This converts at the prevailing USD to INR exchange rate and picks up import duty and GST before reaching Indian retail.

Vijayapura's gold rate tracks the national MCX and IBJA benchmark closely, with metal reaching local jewellers through Hubballi's wholesale trade, which effectively sets the retail benchmark local showrooms price against each morning. Local differences show up mainly in making charges rather than the underlying rate.

US interest rate expectations, the dollar's strength, central bank buying and geopolitical tension move the international gold price daily. The rupee's exchange rate and Indian import duty changes move the local price on top of that.

Locally, gold buying in Vijayapura follows the national festival calendar, with Akshaya Tritiya and Dhanteras marking the year's sharpest demand spikes, a rhythm that holds here as strongly as anywhere in Karnataka.

Global gold mine supply grows only slowly year over year, since new deposits take years to develop, making the price far more sensitive to shifts in demand, particularly central bank buying, than to sudden supply changes.

For Vijayapura's jewellery buyers, none of this changes the practical advice: buy for the occasion and the design, not to time a global supply cycle.

Nobody can reliably predict short term gold price direction, including in Vijayapura, since the rate here simply follows the national and international benchmark. Genuine forecasting depends on interest rate paths, central bank policy and global risk sentiment, all of which are themselves uncertain.

For a jewellery purchase tied to a wedding or festival date, buying for the occasion rather than trying to time the market is the more practical approach.

916 refers to 91.6 percent gold purity, the numerical way of expressing 22 karat, and the standard for traditional Indian jewellery. Mandatory BIS hallmarking of gold jewellery has applied nationally since June 2021, including in Vijayapura.

A genuine 916 hallmark carries the BIS logo, the purity grade, the jeweller's identification mark, the assaying centre's mark, and a six digit HUID number unique to that piece.

24 karat, or 999 purity, gold is as close to pure gold as retail bullion gets. It is too soft for everyday jewellery, which is why it is sold mainly as coins and bars rather than rings or bangles in Vijayapura.

22 karat, 18 karat and 14 karat gold each alloy in other metals for strength, trading some purity for durability, the reason jewellery is rarely sold in 24 karat form.

The rate shown on this page is the metal value alone. What you pay at the counter adds a making charge, then GST in two parts: 3 percent on the metal value, plus 5 percent on the making charge when it is itemised separately, which is how most established Vijayapura jewellers bill.

What making charges typically run in Vijayapura

• Plain gold chains and bangles | roughly 6 to 14 percent
• Studded and diamond set jewellery | roughly 15 to 30 percent, plus the stone value billed separately

This calculation is identical whether bought in Vijayapura or Hubballi; only the making charge percentage itself varies by retailer.

A proper invoice should show the net gold weight in grams, the purity as 22K or 916, the rate applied per gram that day, the making charge as its own line, and GST split correctly at 3 percent on the metal value and 5 percent on making charges.

For studded pieces, the invoice should separately state the stone value and any certification. Keep this invoice together with the HUID hallmark number for any future resale or insurance claim.

22 karat remains the default for traditional gold jewellery in Vijayapura, favoured for weddings and festival gifting. 18 karat suits diamond and stone set pieces, where the higher alloy content holds a setting more securely. 14 karat is the hardest wearing and most affordable per gram, though less commonly stocked locally than the other three.

Your choice should weigh the occasion against durability: 22 karat for traditional heirloom style pieces, 18 karat for daily wear studded jewellery.

• Look for the BIS triangle logo, purity grade, and six digit HUID stamped on the piece
• Verify the HUID on the BIS CARE app, which confirms the piece was registered at an official assaying centre
• Buy from an established Vijayapura jeweller or recognised national brand rather than an unregistered seller

This verification step takes a minute and is the single most reliable protection against purity disputes later.

Vijayapura does not host a BIS assaying and hallmarking centre of its own; jewellery sold locally is typically hallmarked through centres in Hubballi before reaching Vijayapura retailers.

This does not affect the validity of the hallmark itself, only where in the supply chain the certification happened, so a genuine HUID number remains fully verifiable regardless of which assaying centre issued it.

KDM referred to gold jewellery soldered using a cadmium based alloy, a practice largely phased out in India due to cadmium's toxicity to jewellery workers, replaced by safer BIS compliant alternatives.

Modern hallmarked jewellery sold in Vijayapura today follows BIS purity and soldering standards rather than the older KDM process, so this term is now mostly historical.

Diamond and stone set gold jewellery bills the gold weight at the day's rate plus making charges, with the stone value added as a separate invoice line, ideally backed by a certificate for any diamond above a modest carat weight.

18 karat gold is the more common base for stone set jewellery here, since its slightly higher alloy content holds a setting more securely than 22 karat over years of wear.

Established local jewellers across Vijayapura, a city whose modern identity is built as much around its Adil Shahi monuments as its trade, carry hallmarked gold jewellery, sourced largely through Hubballi's wholesale trade.

What to check wherever you buy

• The BIS hallmark and HUID number on the piece
• A proper GST invoice itemising weight, purity, rate and making charge separately
• The jeweller's exchange or buyback policy before you commit

Vijayapura's established local jewellers now sit alongside a small number of national jewellery brand showrooms, a pattern seen across most Karnataka heritage towns of comparable size.

This trade carries the city's Adil Shahi architectural heritage rather than any dedicated historic gem market of its own, unlike Hubballi's larger established jewellery trading tradition.

Buying gold online from an established, hallmark compliant national brand offers a far wider design range than most Vijayapura showrooms can stock, delivered directly to your door with the same BIS hallmark guarantee.

In store buying at a local jeweller lets you see and try on a piece before committing, a genuine advantage for a first major purchase, especially bridal jewellery.

Vijayapura genuinely means City of Victory, a name first used under the Kalyani Chalukyas before the city later came to be known by its Persian derived name, Bijapur, during the Adil Shahi period. The central government approved reverting the city's official name from Bijapur back to Vijayapura on 1 November 2014.

This naming history runs far deeper than Vijayapura's modern gold retail, which simply follows the national supply chain like any other Indian jewellery market.

• No BIS hallmark or HUID on the piece
• A purity claimed that does not match the hallmark stamped on the item
• Making charges quoted verbally but not itemised on the final GST invoice

Buying from an established, hallmark compliant retailer in Vijayapura remains the most reliable way to avoid these issues.

Approach the jeweller you originally bought from first for resale or exchange, and retain your original invoice and hallmark documentation, since terms vary meaningfully by retailer in Vijayapura.

Expect a deduction for melting and wastage on exchange, typically lower for hallmarked pieces with a verifiable HUID than for unmarked older jewellery.

Gold buying in Vijayapura follows the same national festival calendar as the rest of India, led by Akshaya Tritiya and Dhanteras, both considered auspicious days for a new gold purchase.

• Akshaya Tritiya, widely considered the most auspicious day nationally for buying gold
• Dhanteras and Diwali, the second major buying window each year
• Wedding season, broadly November through February, for bridal and gifting jewellery

A bank locker remains the most secure storage option for significant gold holdings in Vijayapura. Keep your original purchase invoice and hallmark documentation together with your stored gold.

For jewellery worn regularly, a fireproof home safe is a reasonable middle ground between a bank locker and unsecured storage.

Many Vijayapura jewellers run monthly instalment gold savings schemes, letting customers pay a fixed amount toward a future purchase, often with a bonus instalment added by the jeweller at maturity.

Read the terms carefully before enrolling, particularly around lock-in periods and whether the maturity value is redeemable only for jewellery or also in cash.

• An established local jeweller: deep community trust, in person try-on, narrower design range
• A national brand showroom in Hubballi: wider curated selection
• An established national online brand: the widest overall design range, delivered to your door
• Digital gold or a Sovereign Gold Bond: exposure to gold's price without physical possession or making charges

Gold is widely considered a defensive asset that tends to hold value during economic uncertainty, though it carries no yield of its own the way equity dividends or bond interest do.

For Vijayapura households, gold typically functions as both jewellery and a store of value simultaneously, a dual role that is distinct from a pure financial instrument.

Gold is far more liquid than land or property in Vijayapura, sellable in small quantities at short notice, unlike a property sale which typically takes weeks or months.

That liquidity comes with different risk and return characteristics than local real estate, so the two serve genuinely different roles in a household's broader savings mix rather than substituting for each other.

Gold typically moves independently of equity markets, which is why it is often used as a portfolio diversifier. Unlike debt instruments, it pays no interest, and unlike silver, it carries no meaningful industrial demand component.

A blended approach across these asset classes, rather than concentrating entirely in gold, is the more commonly recommended path for most Vijayapura households.

All the gold ever mined in human history would form a cube with sides of roughly 22 metres, a genuinely finite quantity that underpins gold's role as a scarce store of value.

India holds among the largest privately held gold stocks in the world, largely in the form of jewellery held by households, a pattern reflected in Vijayapura as much as anywhere else in the country.

Gold has delivered solid long run returns in rupee terms over past decades, helped by both international price appreciation and rupee depreciation against the dollar. Past performance, however, is never a guarantee of future returns.

For a Vijayapura buyer, jewellery also carries making charges that are effectively sunk on purchase and only partially recovered on resale, a real cost that pure investment vehicles like SGBs avoid.

Physical gold bought in Vijayapura carries making charges and storage concerns but delivers something wearable or giftable. Gold ETFs and Sovereign Gold Bonds, held through a demat account, avoid these costs but offer no physical jewellery.

Many households here hold both: jewellery for weddings and gifting, and SGBs or ETFs for pure investment exposure to gold's price.

Gold coins and bars, typically 24 karat or 999 purity, are available from Vijayapura jewellers at a lower making charge than jewellery, usually 3 to 8 percent, since there is no design or craftsmanship cost involved.

These are bought purely for their metal value, often for gifting on festivals, rather than for wear.

Gold futures, traded on MCX, let institutional and sophisticated retail traders speculate on or hedge gold price movements without holding physical metal, using leverage to control a larger contract value with a smaller margin deposit.

This is a specialised trading instrument, not a jewellery buying tool, and is not typically relevant to Vijayapura's retail gold buyers.

Gold loans, widely available from banks and NBFCs in Vijayapura, are typically approved faster and at lower interest rates than unsecured personal loans, since the gold itself serves as collateral.

The tradeoff is genuine risk of losing the pledged jewellery on default, so borrowers should confirm the loan to value ratio and repayment terms carefully before pledging family jewellery.

Gold's excellent conductivity and corrosion resistance make it valuable in electronics manufacturing, though this represents a small share of overall global demand compared with jewellery and investment.

None of this industrial demand is specific to Vijayapura; it is a global demand factor reflected uniformly in the national rate shown on this page.

India imports the vast majority of its gold, since domestic mine production is minimal relative to national demand. Import duty and GST are added at the border and via retail respectively before gold reaches a Vijayapura jeweller's counter.

Changes to import duty by the central government are one of the few policy levers that move Indian gold prices independently of the international rate, so duty changes are worth watching around Union Budget announcements.

Taxes on gold are set nationally, so nothing here is specific to Vijayapura. GST applies at 3 percent on the metal value at purchase, plus 5 percent on making charges when itemised separately.

At sale, profit on physical gold held over 24 months generally qualifies as a long term capital gain, taxed at your applicable slab rate; shorter holdings are taxed at your income slab rate regardless. This is not tax advice; confirm current rules with a chartered accountant for a significant transaction.

Profit on physical gold held over 24 months generally qualifies as a long term capital gain, taxed at your applicable slab rate. Holdings under 24 months are taxed at your income slab rate regardless of the gain.

Your gain is calculated as the sale price minus your original purchase cost, including making charges, which is why keeping your original invoice matters.

Gold ETFs are taxed similarly to physical gold on capital gains. Sovereign Gold Bonds held to their eight year maturity are exempt from capital gains tax on the redemption amount, a genuine tax advantage over physical gold or ETFs, though the periodic interest they pay is taxable at your income slab rate.

This makes SGBs worth considering for Vijayapura buyers seeking pure investment exposure to gold rather than jewellery, though they come with no physical possession.

The Bijapur Sultanate genuinely ruled from Vijayapura between 1490 and 1686, founded by Yusuf Adil Khan after the breakup of the Bahmani Sultanate, one of five Deccan sultanates that emerged from that split. The dynasty's official language was Persian, and it reached its greatest territorial extent under Mohammed Adil Shah in the mid-17th century, the ruler who later built the Gol Gumbaz.

Vijayapura came under Mughal rule after 1686, a political history that remains far more central to the city's identity than its modern gold retail.

Gold demand in Vijayapura centres on weddings and festival gifting, consistent with the state's broader Karnataka cultural calendar, alongside a tourism and heritage driven economy that supports steady household jewellery buying.

The city's Adil Shahi monuments draw visitors year round, though this tourism has limited direct bearing on local gold buying patterns, which track the national festival calendar.

Rising gold prices in recent years have made Vijayapura buyers more selective about weight and design, often favouring lighter pieces over heavier traditional sets, a pattern seen nationally rather than something specific to this city.

Gold buying for weddings and festivals, however, has remained a resilient category even as prices rise, since it is tied to occasions rather than purely discretionary spending.

The underlying gold rate is uniform nationally, set against the same MCX and IBJA benchmark. What differs between Vijayapura and other cities is local jewellers' association premiums, transport costs and small local taxes, not the base metal price itself.

These differences are typically small, usually well under one percent of the total rate, so comparing headline city rates rarely changes a buying decision meaningfully.

Gold rates across Indian cities, including Vijayapura, Hubballi, and every other major centre, track the same national MCX and IBJA benchmark closely, with only small local premiums separating them.

If you are comparing prices before a purchase, focus your comparison on making charges between jewellers rather than the headline metal rate, since that is where the real variation lies.

The Gold Monetisation Scheme lets individuals deposit idle gold jewellery, coins or bars with a bank in exchange for interest, effectively putting dormant household gold to productive use rather than sitting unused in a locker.

Uptake remains relatively low nationally, including in heritage towns like Vijayapura, largely due to the emotional and sentimental value many households attach to jewellery over its pure metal worth.

Multiply the piece's net gold weight in grams by today's per gram rate for its purity, add the making charge, then apply GST at 3 percent on the metal value and 5 percent on the making charge, and finally add any stone value.

Working through this calculation before you visit a Vijayapura jeweller helps you spot any discrepancy on the final bill immediately.
